My Story
I was born a very curious child in Cheriton, Folkestone, Kent, and growing up in the 70s there wasn’t so much excitement in a town who’s only notoriety was the ferry to France. But I should’ve known my calling in the 80s was to start travelling, first to a kibbutz in Israel, then overland to India, before carrying my backpack down to Africa (photo: Virunga Mountains after seeing Gorillas in Democratic Republic of Congo).

Art & Photography
Another passion of mine, between football in the park, was art and photography. In my dreamy world I pictured myself in Paris when the avant-guard strutted it’s stuff at the turn of the last century, and began to harbour notions that I would one day be a famous artist. And I was lucky enough to hold on to that dream for many many years before life showed me my talent was not what the world wanted to see.
But in that time, I’ve lived a life as we all have in our different ways.

Travelling The World & Australia
On my travels I met Debra, my life partner and soul-mate (photo: us in 90s in Footscray, Melbourne). After travelling South America and the USA we spent some time in Australia before coming back to the UK on what was supposed to be a longer move to Barcelona to live a European lifestyle.
However, when our second daughter was born, she needed a lot of support from the National Health Service and so the move to England was more permanent. She has faced more challenges in her young life than most of us face in a lifetime, but she has risen above them, and is now starting a career as a food & beverage assistance at the Mercure Hotel, Brighton.

Wannabe Empty Nester
Debra and I are at that stage where we want to be empty nesters, but our youngest is not yet ready to leave home. She needs our support for the moment.
One of the goals we must achieve is to leave her so that she can cope in the future without us, if for no other reason than she will outlive us. Like most parents, regardless of their circumstances, we want both our children to live a safe, secure, and rewarding life. And that desire is a work in progress for us as it is for many parents of children with additional needs.
